Terms of Service

Couples Rooted is a relationship education, reflection, and personal growth platform designed to help individuals and couples better understand their relationships, strengthen communication, recognize patterns, and build intentional relationship habits.

Couples Rooted is not therapy, psychotherapy, counseling, medical care, mental health treatment, crisis intervention, or a substitute for services provided by a licensed healthcare or mental health professional.

Use of Couples Rooted does not create a therapist-client, counselor-client, doctor-patient, or other professional healthcare relationship between you and Rooted Connection, LLC, its owners, employees, contractors, contributors, or affiliates.

Couples Rooted is intended for adults age 18 and older.

By using Couples Rooted, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and legally capable of agreeing to these Terms.

Certain Couples Rooted features require an account.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity occurring through your account.

You agree to provide reasonably accurate information when creating and maintaining your account.

You may not impersonate another person, access another user's account without authorization, or use Couples Rooted for fraudulent or unlawful purposes.

Couples Rooted may allow users to connect their accounts with a partner.

Each partner maintains an individual Couples Rooted account.

Connecting accounts does not give either partner access to everything the other partner enters into Couples Rooted.

Certain information submitted through Couples Rooted is treated as private to the individual user by design and is not displayed to a connected partner as originally submitted. Other features are intentionally shared.

Shared couple experiences may use information from both partners to generate themes, patterns, summaries, or non-attributive observations without displaying one partner's private responses verbatim or identifying which partner provided particular private information.

Information a user intentionally sends or shares with a partner — such as notes or messages addressed to that partner — is intended to be visible to that partner.

Users are responsible for reviewing available privacy and sharing options before choosing to share information.

Couples Rooted cannot control information that another person independently remembers, records, screenshots, copies, or shares after that information has legitimately been made available to them.

A user's own ROOTED Check-In answers, Relationship Inventory responses, reflections, journal and other private responses, and Rooted Guide conversations are not displayed to a connected partner as originally written. Couples Rooted also provides sharing selections for features where sharing is optional, and is designed to respect those selections when displaying information to connected partners.

Where shared couple experiences draw on both partners' information, they present themes, patterns, summaries, or non-attributive observations rather than one partner's private responses verbatim or an identification of which partner provided particular private information.

However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security or confidentiality.

Users should exercise appropriate judgment when entering highly sensitive information into Couples Rooted.

Couples Rooted may use artificial intelligence and automated systems to provide personalized:

• Insights
• Educational content
• Relationship observations
• Pattern recognition
• Summaries
• Recommendations
• Questions
• Lessons
• Reflections
• Suggested activities

AI-generated information may contain errors, misunderstand context, or produce conclusions that are incomplete or inappropriate for a particular situation.

Rooted Connection, LLC does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated information.

AI-generated content is provided for educational and informational purposes and should not be considered professional mental health, medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

Users remain responsible for their own decisions, communications, actions, and relationships.

Couples Rooted may analyze information across multiple experiences to identify potential themes, trends, strengths, needs, or relationship patterns.

These observations are informational and educational.

They should not be interpreted as:

• Clinical diagnoses
• Psychological assessments
• Professional evaluations
• Determinations about the health or future of a relationship
• Statements of objective fact about another person
• Recommendations to begin or end a relationship

Relationship dynamics are complex, and Couples Rooted's observations are necessarily based on limited information provided through the Service.

Couples Rooted is not designed to diagnose or treat mental health conditions or provide emergency or crisis services.

Couples Rooted should not be relied upon when immediate professional assistance is necessary.

If you believe you or another person is in immediate danger, contact appropriate emergency services or qualified professionals in your location.

Couples Rooted provides educational information intended to support reflection and communication.

Couples Rooted does not make decisions for users regarding marriage, separation, divorce, parenting, reconciliation, personal safety, or other significant relationship matters.

You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on your circumstances.

You agree not to use Couples Rooted to:

• Violate applicable laws or regulations
• Harass, threaten, stalk, abuse, or intimidate another person
• Attempt to access another person's private account or information
• Circumvent privacy or security protections
• Upload malicious software or harmful code
• Interfere with Couples Rooted's systems or infrastructure
• Attempt unauthorized access to Couples Rooted's systems
• Scrape or systematically extract Couples Rooted content or data without authorization
• Use automated systems to abuse or overload the Service
• Misrepresent your identity
• Infringe intellectual property or privacy rights
• Use Couples Rooted for unlawful surveillance or coercive monitoring of another person
• Reverse engineer protected portions of the Service except where such restrictions are prohibited by law

We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe the Service is being misused.

Couples Rooted and its original content, branding, designs, educational materials, lessons, software, features, graphics, logos, methodologies, and other proprietary materials are owned by Rooted Connection, LLC or its applicable licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Your use of Couples Rooted does not transfer ownership of Rooted Connection, LLC's intellectual property to you.

Subject to these Terms, Rooted Connection, LLC grants users a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purposes.

Couples Rooted content may not be reproduced, sold, republished, commercially distributed, or used to create a competing product or service except with permission or as otherwise permitted by law.

You retain ownership of content you submit to Couples Rooted to the extent you have ownership rights in that content.

You grant Rooted Connection, LLC the rights reasonably necessary to host, store, process, analyze, display, and otherwise use your content for the purpose of operating, securing, personalizing, maintaining, and improving the Service, consistent with our Privacy Policy.

This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to Rooted Connection, LLC.

If you voluntarily provide ideas, suggestions, comments, or feedback regarding Couples Rooted, you permit Rooted Connection, LLC to use that feedback to evaluate and improve the Service without obligation to compensate you.

This does not transfer ownership of your private relationship content to Rooted Connection, LLC.

Couples Rooted may offer free trials, paid subscriptions, or other paid features.

Pricing, billing frequency, trial terms, and applicable subscription conditions will be presented before purchase.

The current Couples Rooted public membership is an automatically renewing monthly membership. Unless canceled, the membership renews each month using the payment method associated with the account.

One paid membership covers the paying member and their connected partner while the applicable membership coverage remains active.

Users are responsible for canceling subscriptions according to the cancellation procedures provided by Couples Rooted.

Cancellation, automatic renewal, and refund terms are described in the "Cancellation, Renewal, and Refunds" section below, and applicable subscription conditions are also presented during checkout.

Couples Rooted currently offers an automatically renewing monthly membership. Unless canceled, your membership will automatically renew each month using the payment method associated with your account.

You may cancel your Couples Rooted membership at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period. After cancellation, you will continue to have access to your paid Couples Rooted membership through the end of that billing period, and your membership will not renew.

Payments are non-refundable. Couples Rooted does not provide refunds, prorated refunds, or credits for partially used or unused subscription periods, except where required by applicable law.

For monthly memberships, cancellation does not result in a refund or credit for unused days remaining in the current monthly billing period.

Canceling a membership prevents future renewal charges but does not reverse or refund charges already paid, except where required by applicable law.

If a charge was made in error, you believe you were charged incorrectly, or applicable law provides you with additional cancellation or refund rights, please contact Couples Rooted support.

Couples Rooted may change subscription prices in the future. Any price changes should be handled in accordance with applicable law and communicated as required before affecting an existing member's future renewal.

Couples Rooted is an evolving platform.

We may add, modify, improve, suspend, or discontinue features when reasonably necessary.

We do not guarantee that every feature will remain available permanently or operate in exactly the same manner indefinitely.

We work to provide a reliable Service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

Couples Rooted may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical failures, third-party service interruptions, security concerns, updates, or circumstances outside our control.

Couples Rooted may rely on third-party providers for infrastructure, authentication, artificial intelligence, payments, communications, analytics, or other functionality.

Your use of certain features may therefore involve services provided by third parties.

Rooted Connection, LLC is not responsible for third-party services beyond the extent required by applicable law.

You may stop using Couples Rooted at any time.

Couples Rooted may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of:

• Violations of these Terms
• Fraud or suspected fraud
• Security threats
• Abuse of the Service
• Unlawful activity
• Conduct that materially harms Rooted Connection, LLC, its users, or its systems

Where appropriate, Couples Rooted may provide notice or an opportunity to address the issue.

Deletion controls are available from the Privacy & Data section of your Account page. Permanent deletion requires confirmation through a single-use link sent to your verified email address; nothing is deleted unless you confirm from that email.

Confirmed deletion cancels your active Couples Rooted subscription or trial, releases your couple connection, and permanently removes your account and the history stored with it, subject to applicable legal, security, operational, backup, and recordkeeping requirements.

Deleting your account does not delete your connected partner's separate account or that partner's own private information.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided by Rooted Connection, LLC on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not guarantee that:

• Couples Rooted will always be available
• Every feature will function without error
• AI-generated content will always be accurate
• Recommendations will produce a particular relationship outcome
• Use of Couples Rooted will improve, preserve, repair, or otherwise change a relationship

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Rooted Connection, LLC and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to use of the Service.

Rooted Connection, LLC is not responsible for decisions, communications, disagreements, relationship outcomes, or other actions taken by users based on information obtained through the Service, except to the extent liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the aggregate liability of Rooted Connection, LLC and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the Service during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim or $100.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rooted Connection, LLC and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful misuse of the Service or material violation of these Terms.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Couples Rooted Service will be governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent applicable law provides you with rights that cannot lawfully be waived or limited by these Terms.

Informal Resolution

Before either you or Rooted Connection, LLC files a lawsuit arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, the party raising the dispute must provide the other party with written notice describing the dispute and the relief requested.

Notices to Rooted Connection, LLC may be sent using the contact information provided in these Terms.

The parties will attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days after the notice is received.

The informal-resolution requirement does not prevent either party from seeking temporary or emergency injunctive relief where reasonably necessary, and it does not require a party to delay filing where doing so would cause a claim to become time-barred.

Forum

Subject to any non-waivable rights available under applicable law, any judicial proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts having jurisdiction over the county in North Carolina where Rooted Connection, LLC maintains its principal place of business.

You and Rooted Connection, LLC consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from bringing an eligible claim in small claims court where permitted by applicable law.

We may update these Terms as Couples Rooted develops.

When material changes are made, we may update the effective date and provide additional notice where appropriate or required by law.

Continued use of Couples Rooted following updated Terms constitutes acceptance of those Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
