Privacy Policy

When you use Couples Rooted, we may collect information you provide directly, including:

• Name
• Email address
• Account information
• Relationship information
• ROOTED check-in responses
• Relationship Inventory responses
• Reflections
• Rooted Guide conversations
• Information you provide through lessons and practices
• Relationship context you share during onboarding
• Preferences
• Goals
• Date Planner preferences and location information (such as a saved ZIP or postal code, city and region, and — only when you explicitly request location-based functionality — your device's location, used once to look up where you are and not stored as your saved location)
• Feedback and support information you send us
• Information you choose to share with a connected partner

Rooted also generates information from your use of the service — see Information Rooted Generates below.

We may also collect information about how you interact with Couples Rooted, including features used, completion history, engagement patterns, device or browser information, and other technical information necessary to operate and improve the service.

Couples Rooted may allow users to enter personal reflections and information about their relationships.

Content designated as private is intended to remain private from a connected partner unless the user affirmatively chooses to share it or a feature clearly indicates otherwise.

Rooted Connection, LLC may use private information to generate personalized insights, identify patterns, recommend educational content, and personalize the user's experience.

Personalized and couple-level insights are designed so they do not reveal one partner's private responses to the other partner.

Users should not assume that information entered into any online service is completely immune from unauthorized access. We use reasonable measures designed to protect user information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may use information collected through Couples Rooted to:

• Provide and operate the Couples Rooted platform
• Personalize daily experiences and educational content
• Generate AI-assisted insights and recommendations
• Identify patterns across a user's relationship experiences over time
• Provide shared insights when users connect with a partner
• Maintain accounts and authenticate users
• Provide customer support
• Improve Couples Rooted's functionality and user experience
• Detect misuse, fraud, or security problems
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

Based on your activity and responses, Couples Rooted generates information about your relationship experience, including:

• Relationship observations
• Themes and patterns
• Personalized recommendations
• Relationship Health information
• Relationship DNA
• Milestone and checkpoint readings
• Longitudinal summaries and interpretations

These are generated interpretations based on the information available to Rooted. They may be incomplete or inaccurate, and they are educational — they are not a diagnosis, psychological assessment, or professional evaluation.

Couples Rooted may use artificial intelligence and automated systems to analyze user-provided information and generate personalized educational insights, summaries, observations, recommendations, prompts, or content.

AI-generated information may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for a particular situation and should not be considered professional clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Couples Rooted currently uses OpenAI as its AI provider, through the OpenAI API. Requests are made server-side from Couples Rooted using a business API account, not through a consumer ChatGPT account.

Depending on the feature, the information included in an AI request may consist of your ROOTED Check-In responses, Relationship Inventory responses, reflections and journal entries, Rooted Guide messages, lesson and completion history, previously generated observations and patterns, relationship context you provided during onboarding, and first names used to make responses feel personal (such as your partner's first name). Email addresses, passwords, payment information, and account or couple identifiers are not included in the content of AI requests. Date Planner AI requests may include your city, region, or ZIP/postal code, but not raw GPS coordinates.

Based on OpenAI's current published terms for API usage, information submitted through the OpenAI API is not used by OpenAI to train its models by default. OpenAI may retain information for a limited period for abuse and misuse monitoring in accordance with its own policies. OpenAI's practices are governed by OpenAI's agreements and policies, which may change, and we do not control them.

Other third-party AI or infrastructure providers may be used in the future as Couples Rooted develops, in which case information may be transmitted to those providers as necessary to provide the relevant functionality, subject to the applicable agreements and privacy practices governing those services.

Certain Couples Rooted features allow two users to connect their accounts.

Connecting with a partner does not automatically mean that all information entered into Couples Rooted becomes visible to that partner.

Couples Rooted distinguishes between information that is private to an individual user and information a feature is designed to share. In current practice, your own ROOTED Check-In answers, Relationship Inventory responses, reflections, and Rooted Guide conversations are not shown to your connected partner as you wrote them. Shared experiences — such as your couple page — are designed to present themes, patterns, and non-attributive observations rather than one partner's words or who said what, and notes or messages you deliberately send to your partner are intended for them to read.

Users are responsible for reviewing sharing options before choosing to share information.

We use third-party service providers to operate Couples Rooted. They process information only as necessary to perform services for Rooted Connection, LLC. These providers currently perform the following functions:

• AI processing — OpenAI, through the OpenAI API (see the Artificial Intelligence section above).
• Database, storage, and authentication — Supabase.
• Payment processing — Stripe.
• Transactional email — our email delivery provider, used to send account-related messages such as verification and partner invitations.
• Hosting and application infrastructure — the platform on which the Couples Rooted website and application run.
• Website analytics — Google Analytics, which receives limited, non-identifying usage information about site and feature usage. Relationship content, reflections, names, email addresses, and account identifiers are not sent to analytics.
• Location, venue, event, and weather information — where you use the Date Planner, location search information (city, region, ZIP/postal code, and coordinates derived from them) is sent to mapping, places, local-event, weather, and ZIP/geocoding providers to return venue, event, and weather results. Where you explicitly request location-based functionality, your device's location is used once with a reverse-geocoding provider to look up where you are.
• Website content delivery — infrastructure used to deliver the site, such as the web font provider that serves the fonts the site displays.

Technical error monitoring is operated in-house and stored in our Supabase database; we do not currently use an external error-monitoring vendor.

Rooted Connection, LLC does not sell users' private relationship reflections to advertisers.

Couples Rooted offers paid subscriptions. Payment information is processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor.

Rooted Connection, LLC may receive information about transactions and subscription status but does not store complete payment-card numbers.

We generally retain account and relationship information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Couples Rooted, maintain user accounts, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the integrity and security of the service.

You can request permanent deletion of your account from the Privacy & Data section of your Account page, confirmed from a link sent to your verified email address. Confirmed deletion cancels any active subscription or trial, releases your couple connection, and removes your account and the history stored with it, including feedback screenshots you uploaded. Couple readings you contributed to are removed, or rebuilt so they no longer reflect your information where your contribution cannot safely be separated out. Your connected partner's own account and private information are preserved.

After confirmed deletion, limited information may remain where reasonably necessary for routine backups, billing and accounting, fraud prevention, security, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or other legitimate recordkeeping requirements.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. In plain terms, the protections currently in place include:

• Access to the platform requires an authenticated user account.
• Database-level access rules (Row Level Security) are enabled on the tables that hold account and relationship information, so requests are limited to the records belonging to the signed-in user and, where a feature intentionally shares information, their connected couple.
• Anonymous, unauthenticated database access to relationship information is not permitted.
• Private individual responses are stored separately from information a feature is designed to share with a connected partner.
• Traffic between your device and Couples Rooted is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
• Data storage and encryption at rest are provided by our infrastructure providers (including Supabase, which hosts our database and authentication).
• Privileged server-side credentials are restricted to server-side code and are not available to the browser.
• API keys and other secrets are stored outside client-facing code as server-side environment configuration.
• Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Rooted Connection, LLC does not store complete payment-card numbers.
• Technical error monitoring is operated in-house and stored in our Supabase database. Error logs are redacted before storage and are designed so they do not contain raw AI output, AI prompts, Check-In content, Inventory content, reflections, Rooted Guide conversations, Relationship DNA content, relationship-topic lesson or milestone route identifiers, credentials, or tokens. A redacted technical error may remain associated with your account until your account is deleted.

A limited number of authorized personnel and service-role credentials used to operate, support, troubleshoot, and maintain the platform have technical access to stored information, including relationship information. Such access is intended to be used only as necessary to operate the service, provide support, meet legal obligations, or protect the security and integrity of Couples Rooted.

However, no internet-based platform, database, or electronic storage system can guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affecting personal information occurs, we will respond and provide any notifications in accordance with applicable legal obligations.

Users should use appropriate precautions when deciding what information to enter into Couples Rooted.

Couples Rooted is intended for adults and is not intended for children under 18.

We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children through the platform.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, court orders, or lawful government requests, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of Rooted Connection, LLC, the Couples Rooted platform, our users, or others.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Couples Rooted develops.

When material changes are made, we may update the effective date and provide additional notice where appropriate or legally required.

Continued use of Couples Rooted following an updated Privacy Policy will be governed by the updated policy to the extent permitted by applicable law.
