Why I Created Couples Rooted

Rooted grew out of a simple observation: too often, couples wait until their relationship is really struggling before they intentionally start working on it.

After years of working with couples, I kept wondering what relationships might look like if there were a simple way to invest in them regularly — not because something was wrong, but because the relationship was worth growing.

Strong relationships usually aren’t built through huge, dramatic moments. They’re built through the small ones.

Showing up. Paying attention. Having the conversation. Laughing together. Repairing after a difficult moment. Learning something new about the person you love. Choosing each other again and again.

My professional life has centered on helping people connect and grow. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, board-certified music therapist, private practice owner, and adjunct instructor at our local university. My experience as a U.S. Army veteran also showed me firsthand how deployments, transitions, stress, distance, and everyday responsibilities can affect couples and families.

Built in real life

And at home, I’m a husband and dad of three. My wife and I are raising our family in the middle of the same busy, imperfect, meaningful life that so many couples are navigating.

Couples Rooted was born during one of the busiest seasons of our lives. My wife and I were growing our family, welcoming a new baby, raising our children, and balancing all the responsibilities that come with work, marriage, and everyday life. We knew firsthand how easy it is for a relationship to get pushed behind everything else — not because it matters less, but because life gets full.

That became part of the heart behind Couples Rooted: couples shouldn’t need hours of extra time to intentionally care for their relationship. They need something meaningful that can fit into the life they’re already living.

Rooted was built for real couples, in real life — even when life is busy. Looking back, it was built during the kind of season it was built for.

Those two worlds — sitting with couples professionally and living this season personally — kept pointing me to the same question:

What if couples had something that helped them intentionally grow their relationship before they ever reached a crisis?

That question became Rooted.

What Rooted is here to do

Rooted was created to give couples a simple way to slow down, check in with themselves and each other, understand their patterns, and invest about 10 meaningful minutes in their relationship.

It isn’t therapy, and it isn’t about creating a perfect relationship.

It’s about helping couples become more aware, more intentional, and more connected over time.

Because healthy relationships aren’t simply inherited.

They’re learned, practiced, and grown.

That’s what Rooted is here to help couples do — one day at a time.

I’m rooting for you.
